Emma Paveley || Ucluelet Tofino Artist

A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph Ucluelet & Tofino artist Emma Paveley in her natural habitat—her studio. I admire art on a sliding scale from could-I-make-this-myself? to how-the-hell-was-this-masterpiece-created? Emma's original oil paintings are absolutely incredible and reside on the very far right hand side of my admiration scale. The detail, layering, texture and colours are out of this world.

Emma's paintings blend softness and ruggedness together perfectly, an entirely accurate depiction of this place we call home. As an artist, she truly captures the power of the ocean on this special coast as well as the awe that accompanies it. But you don't need to take my word for it, as soon as you lay eyes on one of her pieces, you'll feel it.
