Family Photographer Tofino || Dean Family || Long Beach

Family photos in Tofino are seriously the best. Gone are the days that we would dress up in stiff clothes and head down to the photography studio and have our portraits taken indoors with artificial lighting and equally artificial smiles. These days it's all about getting outside and getting our picture taken barefoot in the sand, laughing at how precious these little moments are.

The Dean girls didn't require much coaxing, they were having the time of their life during their family photography session on Long Beach. They ran, played, smiled and screamed and I got shots of it all. I often remind the parents that these pictures, although not perfect and posed, will help them to remember the way their children were in their younger years. When I am taking family pictures in Tofino, I start the session with the posed, looking-at-the-camera photos. After these are done, I let everyone (especially the kids) go wild! These are my favourite Tofino family photos—the ones with sandy feet, huge grins, wind tousled hair and warm summer light.
